As a former long time north Carolinian and amateur meteorologist I suspect we've seen the worst from Dorian over the Bahamas which for them was historic and matched the damage apparently done by a storm in the 1930's when the island were far less populous. Looks like this one will skirt the coast like so many others and push out to sea. I'd be prepared but not lose any sleep over this one unless something far left field happens.

That's sounding suspiciously like what's been quoted on the fake WCPSS instagram account.

That's the current thinking, but I never assume that the predictions are correct. Always be prepared for a rogue storm that goes a different direction than expected.

Rogue storm?! NNNNNOOOOOO!

Kidding

I've got food, water and batteries ready just in case. And I know how to avoid flooded areas.

Could very well be. Whatever ends up happening, Team GVoR will adjust accordingly.

On the random musing front, a "Fake WCPSS Instagram Account" is Peak 2019.

Arguably one of the greatest inventions in human history (the internet)....and the collective we use it to setup fake accounts to troll people...how far we've come

WCPSS is tweeting from its REAL account that it is monitoring the situation. They tweeted this on the heels of Wake County being added to the Tropical Storm watch territory. I think we can all see where this is going.

As far as the Insta accounts, they do at least say in their bios "not affiliated with Wake County Public Schools" LOL.

As far as "tracking out early" that's code for "missing a day that you will have to make up" and for YR schools that will be on the next available Saturday.

Looks like north Wake will get 1-2" while southern Wake will get 2-4". Quite a spectrum across the county with 1-4".

Really hope it stays west of Wilmington. UNCW is still recovering from the last year.

My sister teaches in a YR school. Only about 50% of kids ever do!
They also won't have your make up day when you're supposed to be tracked out. It gets really interesting with the YR schools.
