Default Recommendation for Hotel, etc.

Hi All,

I'm hoping you guys can suggest a nice, reasonably priced hotel that's convenient to both Cary and North Raleigh. I, hopefully along with two friends, plan on coming down for a visit within the next few months and am interested in looking at townhomes in communities located in Cary and North Raleigh (Bedford and Falls River area).

Also would like to check out some of the nightlife. When I say nightlife, I definitely do not mean dance clubs or nightclubs geared towards the young, although I am definitely still young at heart. My friends and I are a bit older (40's) and enjoy upscale restaurants that have lively bars and also casual bars/pubs that have bands and/or karaoke. LOL

Should we stay in the downtown area?

Any suggestions would be appreciated regarding hotels, restaurants, museums, shopping, sightseeing, etc.

Thanks.

Valerie

When we came to visit in January, we stayed at the La Quinta near airport Bld. Very nice, reasonably priced. microwave, small fridge in room. We made sure we were in the main building. Great access to I-40, Rt 540, 70. Sort of mid way between north Raleigh and Cary. Free breakfast buffet in am. I would definitely recommend it.

There are lots of places that will be convenient for seeing N. Raleigh and Cary, but it might be more fun to stay downtown in Raleigh and enjoy what it has to offer. It isn't hard to get from there to N. Raleigh and Cary, especially on weekends.

Sounds like you'd have a lot of fun at one of the Irish pubs downtown - Napper Tandy's, Tir na Nog, Hibernian. The first two have bands on weekends usually. There are lots of cool places to eat downtown.

We stayed at the Hilton off of 440. It was very nice, $129. per night. Had a nice sports bar, restaurant and the service was great. It was pretty central to everything I thought.........

I have no clue where you are going to be looking in Cary but I know Comfort Suites in Cary on Ashville is awesome. They have a full FREE breakfast (not just a bagel and coffee) an indoor pool with hot tub, Wifi in all rooms FREE! And a business center for FREE that you can print out anything you need. They also do a FREE social night tue-thurs. 5:30-7 where they serve for FREE - great food, beer, wine and soda! Just gotta show up and you are IN!

The staff is also great there. The turn around is low and they know their stuff. Kudos to the manager there as he has his act together and keeps his staff happy.

Linda
