Good evening All:

Where are some of the best places in the triangle to go check out some desks for a home office set-up? Would prefer mid- to high-end quality...

Thank you in advance.

Alfred Williams & Co.

though they primarily do large installs, as one might expect.

search craigslist for antique desks....I would buy something that should appreciate in value, before buying something that will depreciate in value.

I realize everyone's tastes are completely different, and many people want a true "traditional" desk in their home office, but I went a little different route.

I am a techy nerd by interest as well as professionally, further, a "minimalist" in many of my decor choices.

There's a guy on YouTube, Jeremy Siers, whose decor style speaks to me. I copied his "Ikea Hack Desk" and made it my own. I am a fan of his home office, his AV Room/ManCave and even his cigar room.

Again, I completely get that this doesn't work for what everyone wants/needs, but is an idea that sometimes falls through the cracks of consideration.

We have used other "Ikea Hack" concepts for other rooms in the house. I readily admit Ikea quality can be hit or miss, but between my office and our kids craft room; where I used Ikea bookcases and counter tops to create a craft table, it has met our needs completely.

A pic of my office desk is attached and the original inspiration is in the YouTube link below (if the tagged time in the link doesn't work for you, jump to 11:28)

NC State also has a surplus property warehouse. Prices are unreal - you could probably outfit an office for less than $75.00. They are located at 3420 Ligon St which is not too far from Western Blvd/Blue Ridge Rd intersection. Don't have their phone number or weblink.

Nextdoor.

As previously mentioned, most mass market furniture (even pricier stuff) depreciates like a rock after you buy it. Think how much you would offer for a 3 yr old used desk.

I like GVoR's IKEA hack idea.

I'm always amazed when I see these multi-thousand dollar executive style desks in people's houses. To each their own, but not something I can afford
