Can you believe this innocent Uber driver dropping off a customer in East Raleigh and she gets shot at? Are you kidding me? What kind of neighborhoods are present near St. Augustine University?

Just east of that location on Hill St, there is a gentrification process going on where new people moving in are buying houses and renovating them. Seems like there was a huge backlash at Alamo Drafthouse choosing that location near there, but it seems to be doing very well.

Ridiculous that any of us can be an Uber driver and encounter this kind of issue.

BTW, where's that poster that says nobody on here posts about any crime for Wake Co, Raleigh, Cary, Apex, HS, etc and all we talk about is Durham?

There's always a boatload of shootings in Raleigh. They just happen to not make the news because Durham is so out of control they hog all the air time.

"I rolled over and went back to sleep," one resident said about the gunfire. "I'm so used to hearing it."

Stuff happens. Yesterday afternoon ("broad daylight") there was an armed robbery with shots fired in a parking deck at Crabtree Valley Mall. I'm a lot more likely to be at CVM at 4 pm than near St Aug's at 2 am.

I suppose I could move to Tokyo. That's about the only major metro that has negligible violent crime. I spent about a third of the 2010s in London on business, and they're having a major problem with stabbings. My point was, there's no escape from violent crime in the short run and there's no silver bullet for it, either.

Agree, but having the "crime happens everywhere" attitude doesn't improve things long term either.
