I am happy to announce that I finally recovered all my keys from the person that removed them from the gate post on the trail. He lives in Fuquay Varina and rides his bike every Thursday because he works in Durham and saw the signs I posted

Thank you all for your advice and suggestions. Cheers!

I've very glad you found your keys. I once lost my keys and wallet, and it literally changed my life. Like you, I had all my keys on my keyring, and I also had all my important cards in my wallet. It SUCKED, and unlike you I never did get anything back. I learned a lot of lessons and I now follow a risk reduction system to completely minimize the impact of a potentially lost set of keys or wallet. I now have four different keyrings with just the bare minimum number of keys needed for whatever task I'm taking:
1) my car key plus house key
2) wife's car key plus house key
3) just a house key (for days I'm taking the bus, ubering, or walking to my destination)
4) household keys for working around the house (shed, crawlspace, garage, etc)

I also have a duplicates of all keys locked in a lockbox. It's a bit of a hassle setting everything up and getting duplicates of keys made, but it sure does make losing keys easier to handle. As for the wallet, I literally empty my wallet out every time I come home (excluding cash, drivers license, and health insurance card) and put my various cards on a pile. Then every time I leave the house, I load up my wallet with just the cards I need for where I'm going (work ID, bus pass, credit card, ATM card, rewards cards, etc). I also got a separate credit card specifically for my recurring payments that never sees the light of day so that in the event of a lost credit card, I don't have to go back and set up all those again.

Anyway, the above may be overkill, and I know you didn't ask, but this thread brought back bad memories so figured I'd share.
