I no longer live in the area but used Jimmy Lowery (919-219-9093) for many years. He always supplied me with the greatest seasoned hardwoods. I contacted him to see if he is still providing wood and he said he is.

I would highly recommend him.

There is a place at the corner of Carpenter Fletcher and Alston Avenue in Durham which has firewood for sale in their yard. Right across street from Brailie's pub. Not sure of the name of place and it might be self serve as they have a couple of different offerings for different prices.

IMO, a wood stove is far more efficient,
When I lived in the mountains those of us who were not rich had to make every ounce count, so some installed a wood stove and piped it through the fire place, or piped it independently if that was the better option.
Just some food for thought.

I didn't read all the comments here, but there are 2 places on Six Forks Road north of 540. The fist one is at the intersection of Mt Vernon Church and Six Forks across the street from the Shell Station.

The second place is about a mile north of that on the left side of road as you travel north, guy has wood stacked in his front yard. Both look decent, claim to be seasoned.
