Sometimes people hate chain restaurants just because it's cool to hate chain restaurants.

Ok, ok, I won't post any OG memes, nor give my Nana in Heaven any reason to whack me with her wooden spoon

True. And people go to them because they are usually family friendly and people can know with some certainty what they are going to get every time. If you're on a tight budget or fixed income those factors are important.

We used to love Chili's (for example) - my DD's favorite. And the one in Apex used to be excellent but it's really gone downhill so I won't go there anymore. It wasn't the world's best food in the first place but knowing what you'd get each time was what kept us going back. OG must be providing that.

Very true - similar to how people hate McDonald's or WalMart.

Olive Garden is fine for a "Italian" meal now and then. As others have said, the bread sticks are quite good, as is the salad.

The quotes are perfect. The food, subjective. Then again I've been spoiled growing up with the real thing.

So this is interesting and came up yesterday when we were in Brier Creek yesterday to pick up something. It was lunch time and right across the way was a Chilis. Part of me wanted to go, then I remembered my last experience at one.

When living overseas when a bunch of us went to Hawaii together in the mid-90s we went to a Chilis, as they didn't have them where we were, and it became a sort of ritual every time we went back to Hawaii. Especially as I had never been to one before going overseas. Years later we moved countries again and a couple Chillis popped up a few years later, and while grateful to have another Western food choice, soon found them to be pricey and of poor quality. That was 5 or so years ago.

So the last time I was at a US Chilis was in the early 2000s. How is the BC one?

And BTW we ended up at Tamarind because Champa was crowded. It was not bad and pretty authentic. We'd never been to either.

Actually Olive Garden and Red Lobster do very well for Darden. Both are busy many days of the week. I worked for Olive garden 17+ years ago waiting tables. I dont care for their food but you are very wrong.

Red Lobster hasn't been a Darden brand for many years now.

I don't mind eating Olive Garden, but I do have a problem paying 15 bucks for low quality food. I don't know how they've hiked their prices to the level they have but apparently it sells.
