Sounds intellectually lazy to me.
Well, I find lots of things nonsensical. Many of them aren’t supposed to really be brought up in this forum. So I don’t. Maybe take the same tack and keep the preaching of your moral code to yourself.

Don't you know the rules? You are allowed to throw out vulgarities and act like an insane person as long as you'e woke enough.

Durham is a happening place. Coffee, cocoa, cinnamon, and churros all in one place. Sometimes with poetry.

Apparently lots of murders too. Happening indeed.

Missed the point. (But yes, I absolutely believe that, yet this is not the political forum so that's all I have to say about that.) What is "Normal" to one person is "vile" to another. That knife cuts both ways, and is up to the recipient of said vitriol to decide what's what.

The point was that it's "amusing" to me that everyone is snowflaking out. You don't like what a business allows, then don't go there. If you find yourself there and don't like what you unexpectedly see, leave. That's what my parents did, and that's what I did when my daughter was young. I certainly didn't let it traumatize me. If anything, it was a learning opportunity for my kid. People need to face life head-on. With all the horrible and wonderful things in life, hiding from it, banning it, or crying about it on the internet really doesn't solve anything. DEAL WITH IT.

I guess you cant read. This post is discussing unneeded cussing by a performer. I discussed performers and cussing. Doesn't get more on topic than that that.

The only one preaching here bubba is you with your off topic post. Get back on topic and stop whining and virtue signaling about opinions that differ from yours.

Get over it. Go somewhere else if you don't like it. Clearly the people there had no problem if they were applauding. My 2 cents.

What I’m saying is preaching morality one way or the other and whatnot doesn’t have a place here, in the triangle area forum of City-Data. Your original post belongs somewhere else. Many (most?) people don’t have an issue with “cussing” so by trying to stop it and complaining, you are attempting to put your moral code onto others.

For this specific situation, the alternative is you can open your own coffee shop somewhere and then have control of what happens there.

Just to perfectly clear, in no way am I for stifling freedom of expression, especially artistic media.

The issue for me was the extreme obscenity in that place, at that time. I was not expecting what happened.(Being former military, I've heard a cuss word or two.)

That l thought the message of the speaker was hypocritical nonsense, was peripheral.

It's true that we can vote with our dollars and feet. Again, the owners can do what they wish, just without me.

I wanted to share the episode to get feedback from others who may have similar experiences as I am new to the area.

Maybe some suggestions for other cafés...
