Default Raleigh Fairground area safe or not?

Hello,

We'll be travelling to Raleigh in May for a horse show at the Governor Hunt Horse Complex at the NC fairgrounds. We're coming down from Virginia and have never been there before. Anyone know about this area? Is it in the middle of the city? Or more suburban? Is this area relatively safe or is it a high-crime area?

Thanks!

It's very safe. It's next to the NCSU Vet School (across the street) and is on a main street. I would call it suburban.

Very safe. Close to the RBC Center and Carter Finley Stadium. I lived there off of trinity for 2 years and never felt unsafe. Pretty close to NCSU...a nice urban and rural mix. Real close to the ncsu vet school...and a lot of state owned land for the school and agricultural research. Quite safe.

Lived near there for 3 years, think a squirrel may have stolen an acorn...once. Very safe, have fun and enjoy.

Thanks for all the info. Glad the area is safe. We're staying a few miles away at the Homewood Suites, so it's nice to know we won't have to be looking over our shoulders all the time

If anyone has horse-crazy girls, or just wants to come watch some GORGEOUS Morgan horses competing - the Southern States Regional Championship Show is May 21 - 24. Thanks again!
