Question Evening Primrose "Moonflower bush"

Does anybody know where I can find an evening primrose "moonflower bush?" Maybe even the seeds?? They are supposed to put on a fantastic show in the early evening with huge yellow blooms. Thanks in advance!!

Default Alas...

local nurseries do not carry many plants of that type. Try STARGAZER PERENNIALS ONLINE PLANT NURSERY! or other online source.

It IS a fantastic show, and they are extremely fragrant! Absolutely lovely. I always found seeds a pain to work with. They have a very hard coating and need to be soaked in water for a few hours (or overnight), then have a crack filed in the coating so they are easier to germinate.

I saw some actual plants, about 2' vines, at the farmer's market, I believe. I really wanted to get one for myself, and meant to come back to that vendor, but by the time I was done I had purchases so much other stuff I forgot about it!

I just planted some moonflower seeds this past weekend. I got the seeds at Walmart for $1.07. You are so right about the seed coatings. It was very tough but I managed to "crack" or "nick" them. I hope they turn out alright. I have big plans for them once they germinate! I'm hoping to train the vines to cover my fence this summer. This is my first attempt at growing moonflowers from actual seeds.

Thanks for all the responses. I will keep searching online and at the Farmer's Market. It seems like they are selling out everywhere. I know that the yellow evening primrose (oenothera biennis) is the one that actually opens in the evening and is the bush form. Moonflower vine is nice too. I bought those same seeds at Walmart. They are so fragrant. Thanks again! I will post if I find any.
