mccar homes carramore in cary
I have read some awful reviews for construction of homes in the carramore subdivision in cary.Does anyone know if their reputation has improved with the newer construction. If you live there or know some one who does I would love to hear what they think as I am thinking of buying there.

I live in Carramore. Moved down last summer. Just like any builder, they are not perfect but so far I am pleased. My house inspection (I had pre-drywall and final inspections) only found a few minor items (which were corrected). The inspector commented that he had inspected several homes in the neighborhood and early on the quality was marginal but that the quality seemed to improve with time. I think they got a better handle on their subs.
IMO the quality is pretty good for the price point, builder has been pretty responsive, they did a nice job with the lanscaping and the location is very good with good schools. Again, nothing is perfect but so far I am pretty happy. Feel free to DM me for more details.

No personal experience, but my take on the neighborhood is that it's a good location, good looking houses and great current school assignments. At that price point, I think there are too many houses shoved on a cleared field (I can't stand houses that back up to other houses), but that might just be me.

It's too clear cut for my taste. I have no idea about the quality of construction. The location is good. But at that price point I would prefer a resale in Riggsbee Farm or Preston.

Yes, first, it was a farm so many of the trees were gone. Then the developer cut too many of the remaining ones down. I do not like that fact at all. On the other hand, it seems that most developers are doing that these days. At least the houses are newer and maybe of a better quality than some of the similar neighborhoods and it's in (at least for now!) a great school district (as is Riggsbee). So weigh your priorities. There are several great neighborhoods in the area.
I think after the Carramore neighborhood matures a bit, it will be a valued area.
