20 minutes north of Pittsboro is Chapel Hill/Carrboro/White Cross. Do you mean west of Pittsboro?

It's okay I guess. Seems to have a decent-sized hispanic population.
I think the newest construction is probably Johnson's Burger House (Kidding).

^That place has been around since 1946, I think. Quite the cultural experience, but prepare yourself to wait for a while. (I have no idea if they are serving during COVID. The more I reflect on my two prior visits, it's probably not "social distancing friendly".

Fun times though. a huge chunk of velveta served atop a small burger. YUM

I *think* they are. Made a special trip (well, went past aforementioned farm) about 45 days ago and they had sold out and closed up by 1:00.

BTW, it is almost exactly the same distance to drive from Siler City to Chapel Hill as it is to drive from Siler City to Greensboro — about 40 minutes/30 miles. Also the same distance to drive from Siler City to Winston-Salem as it is to drive from Siler City to Raleigh. I do agree that Siler City is not really aligned with the Triangle like Pittsboro (the Chatham county seat). It is more aligned with Asheboro, Ramseur, Randleman. Kind of neither Triangle, nor Triad. I don't think it is a hot real estate market.
Mountaire Farms is still there. A plant had been shut down a few years ago ( maybe pilgrims pride, not sure ) and have since opened the Mountainaire one.

I tried Johnson's once and found like you say, small burgers with a lot of cheese . Good food but a little pricey, considering.
Dry dock has good seafood and they say the stockyard has a good restaurant with good food too, never tried it.
Kind of a depressing town to me...not much in the way of growth and good shopping choices , etc.
Overall though, it's not a bad place .

Can anyone recommend an honest reliable roofer that will go to Siler City for a job?

try Baker roofing, they work all over the state and are excellent .
Did our roof 4 years ago and have been more than pleased.
A bit more pricey than some but worth the peace of mind knowing it's done right.

I visit Siler City several times a week. It isn't really a part of the Triad or Triangle but it is accessible to both and is fairly close to Sanford. It's a small town but has all of the basic necessities. If you require bars or nightlife you're out of luck. Paltry even by small town standards there. The surrounding countryside is beautiful especially towards Silk Hope. Large immigrant population in the town spurred by the Mountaire Farms chicken plant. Expect to hear country accents and see "rednecks" but its a friendly place.

As far as developments, its not growing rapidly but it isn't shrinking either. It could be a bedroom community to Greensboro or somewhere in the Triangle (Chapel Hill, Apex) but its a bit far out for that. It might grow a little bit with the proximity of Pittsboro and Chatham Park, however. Its a pretty direct shot to the 15-501/64 exit.
