Searching for labs where I can get water tested and analyzed
My home water supply comes from a well. The water leaves white marks all over my utensils, my hair has been falling a lot every time I wash my hair and my clothes don't come out clean when I wash them.
I'd like to find out if there are undesirably high levels of minerals and/or contaminants in it and if so, I'd like to know what those might be.
Could anyone recommend a lab where I could check this out and send them a sample of water and get it analyzed?

The Wake County Health Dept will test your water for certain things.
You would have to talk to them to find out exactly what they will test for.

I asked this same question a while back and here's the thread:
http://www.city-data.com/forum/ralei...-my-water.html
After doing some research on my own, this place also caught my attention:
Ward Laboratories, Agricultural Testing, Consulting, Kearney, Nebraska
If you click on "Fee Schedule" and "Water Analysis" you will see why. Their fees are rather reasonable. I have not tried them out yet, but plan to because the other places charged hundreds of dollars.
My sister, who works for the city of Phoenix testing ground water for contaminants, thinks the reason Ward Labs is so cheap is because they are not "certified". But that should be of no concern to a homeowner who just wants to test his water.

Thanks for the replies.
has anyone else noticed an increase in hair loss when they wash their hair?
I wonder if the recent drought affected aquifers in any way? I use well water.

I use several labs for water testing. In this area I use Microbac Labs in Wilson NC; I also like Environmental Chemist in Wilmington, NC and Oxford labs also in Wilmington, NC. I have used several others and all are good, but these seem to be faster, less expensive, and can give you a wide range of test data.
