Hi everyone. I have been reading many of the post here and have seen alot of good information. I do still have some questions though.

I am currently living in New Mexico and am considering moving to Raleigh,NC.I am single, living in an apartment. I have worked mainly
in entry level manufacturing, but have also worked in retail and apartment maintainance.Don't have any degree.

Question 1. How likely am I to find a decent paying job in Raleigh(decent meaning 16k or more of take home pay)?

Question 2.What is the cost of living there like? Apartment rent(1 bdr,1bath), Food(walmart), Entertainment(movies, outdoor activities)

Question 3. I drive a 95 geo metro(3 cylinder),Will it make it up and down all those hills without blowing the engine up or driving nuts all the other
drivers around me by having slow acceleration?

Question 4. I visted hot springs arkansas once each year in the summer while growing up. If anyone has visted or lived in arkansas, how does the
heat and humidity compare to North Carolina?

Thank You

  1. You will easily make the kind of money you are looking for.
  2. 1bdr, 1 bath apt = $450 to $800 depending on what and where. Food less than $75 per week one person. Lots of activities both inside and out.
  3. No problem on your 3 cylinder. There are very few hills here. You will get run off the road if you are doing 40 or 80 here.
  4. Much less humidity than Arkansas. Heat may be comparable.
