Default Franklinton, Louisburg and the Lake Royal area

I am a newbie to this forum and have found it very refreshing to hear all the comments about the area. I am looking to relocate to NC very soon and am looking in Franklinton, Louisburg and even the Lake Royal area. Just haven't quite decided which area will be the best for me. Franklinton is looking the strongest. Then again Lake Royal wouldn't be too bad as I live on a "mud hole" now. Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Grandmamax. I live in Cary but go to Franklinton and Louisburg everyday at work. I'm a driver. I'm not sure where you are relocating from but Franklinton and Louisburg are not for everyone. They are both very rural with lots of trailer homes and just plain run down old homes. There are some new developments popping up but these towns are a long, long way from being particulary desireable in my opinion. Everyone has different tastes so I suggest you visit these areas first if you have not done so already. It is true that you can get a lot of house for the money there with a lot of land but there is a reason for that. By the way, I work in Morrisvile and it takes me exactly 1 hour to get to Louisburg everyday.

I agree with mudpaws02. I'd check out Youngsville before looking further north. There is a lot more new growth and more to choose from there.

You may want to check older threads on Lake Royale to see different opinions on that area, as well.

I move to Franklinton from Dallas, tx back in 2006. Livied in Greensboro, NC before Dallas, NC.
Turned down a job in Austin, Tx and stay here. It's a very friend area and it doesn't hurt that Wake Forest is growing. We live in a newer home (built in 2001) and like everywhere in NC there are some areas with run down homes and some area of very nice homes. I do like the lower taxes. Have no kids so I have no ideas about the schools.
