I like the outdoor seating at the Caribou @ Brier creek. Has a nice buffer of trees blocking the view of traffic. Nice place for an evening coffee.

Guglhupf Bakery and Patisserie is a nice place with good outdoor seating and great baked goods and coffee as well. More of a bakery, but if you just want coffee you could do much worse. It is in Durham, and I love going there but have not been there recently. Just type Guglhupf into google and you'll find a link. Can't put links here.

There's a small place in the Homestead Market shopping center (on 54 in Durham) call the Bean Traders (or maybe it's the Bean Counters?). They have a few tables outside and really good coffee.

Actually, we can post links to things like restaurants and cafes.

Guglhupf Bakery & Pātisserie - Home
There are two areas at Guglhupf: the bakery entrance and the cafe entrance. You can get coffee in the cafe, as well as sandwiches and pastries that are made on-site. The outdoor eating area has shaded seating and a pretty cool fountain. Not sure about the wifi.

Caffe Driade
This is one of my very favorite places in the Triangle. Others have already mentioned what makes it so special. Coffee is certainly their specialty. They have some pastries available, too - all of which come from Guglhupf. Isn't that a happy coincidence?

Port City Java in downtown Raleigh. The outdoor seating is along Fayetteville, but there shouldn't be too much traffic on the weekends.

More votes for Mr. Toad's (very dog friendly) in Cary. Don't forget Weaver Street Market in Carrboro for a true local experience. Nothing finer than a Sunday at Weaver Street.

Helios on Glenwood South has a terrific outdoor seating area that's hedged to create intimacy. Umbrella's shade the tables and it has free wireless Internet access. There's also ample parking in the read of the business for those who can't walk to it.
