You said "You cannot keep a crawl space dry in a Southern climate. It has to be sealed and conditioned to prevent dampness. Different story in CA or in other areas where humidity is always low."

I was saying no, it does not necessarily need to be sealed and conditioned and mine is proof.

Vapor barrier covering 90% + closed vents + crawlspace dehumidifier is good enough for most crawlspaces that do not have some other water problem going on (i.e. drainage/flood issue in crawl or around foundation).
