Is it

1) possible,

2) fairly safe (wide shoulders or bicycle lane),

3) accepted (I won't be the ONLY bicycle on that road ever)

to ride a bicycle on these routes to get from UNC campus to the Weaver Street Market?

Thank you~~

Lana

I've seen a fair amount on 86. 15/501 would be a bit more risky.

You couldn't pay me enough to ride my bike on 15-501. I get uncomfortable watching people walk on the side of the road, much less ride a bike. From the UNC campus, your best bet would be to ride along Cameron Ave. towards Carrboro (passing the Old Well on your right), then pick up the bike path that starts at the intersection of Cameron and Merritt Mill. That path will take you past the back side of the Cat's Cradle, right to Weaver Street Market. It dumps you out right in front of Armadillo Grill. I love this ride and do it all the time. The bike lanes are huge and heavily used.

Oh my! Thank you very, very much for this info about a bike path! I am so relieved.
