As we continue to research towns and areas in the Cary, Holly Springs, F-V vacinity, I see a lot of homes in neighborhoods with common buildings, pools, tennis courts and the such. I am curious how this is handled - I assume it is a monthly association fee? I'm sure the fees range from the Haves to the Have Not's, but what's the average? Other than condo fees, I don't see these kind of neighborhood ammenities in Central Massachusetts...Thanks.

For SFR's, figure $150.00 to $480.00 or more annually.
Some neighborhoods charge extra for pools, but many or most include pools.
Condos and townhomes are more, and sometimes a lot more, because the fee may include exterior maintenance, mowing, landscape, roofing, siding, etc...

if you're not planning to use the pool (or other facilities), look for a subdivision that allows you to opt-out. mine does and my annual fee is very low compared to what it would be if i wanted to use the pool.

Thanks for the replies folks. It sounds like short-money for the amenities...although I'm not one who enjoys public pools, so the opt-out sounds good too.
