I just found this post and was hoping to find some sort of full time care for my 4 yr old daughter next year. I am looking now to see if it is even worth it. I was thinking of going back to work but not 5 days a week I guess... I will be working to pay the fees. $1200 a month???? I guess that's about right. I am waiting for info on Appleseeds and hoping they offer a more affordable rate. I also have to consider my 2 boys that will be needing trackout care next year as well. That alone will be $300 a month if I use the YMCA. Man, this is gonna be expensive! How do you do it? I work part time now and my mother in law watches the kids for an hour before my husband is home from work. I am really trying to stop working evenings. I might have to wait 2 yrs for my daughter to make it to kindergarten I guess and just pay the track out for 3 of them.
Any other advice would be helpful.
Yeah, I am paying $1,300 per month for my two boys to attend three days per week. It's tough, but I have worked several years to create this opportunity for myself (to be able to work from home and have a flexible schedule). I use to work full time, but after my second child (I have three), I cut back to part time. Most recently I was working 20 hrs/week from home while they were home with me, but then picked up 10 more hours per week and put them in day care. My increase in pay was just a little more than enough to cover what I am now paying in child care so I am not really coming home with more money with my increased hours, but they really needed to be in school rather than sitting home with me while I tried to work. I don't know how people maintain their sanity with both parents working full time and paying for day care and trying to manage life and kids. Working an opposite schedule of a spouse also seems really hard. It's great that you have family near by to help.
Goddard school in Apex...pretty much a top notch pre-school. We were planning on getting our youngest into there a couple years ago before we decided to leave the area.

My kids went to Appleseeds...we absolutely loved it. Such a warm, caring environment. I really hope you hear back....there was a waiting list but we managed to get in. My kids went 3 half days for about $170 ea I think.
I'm looking for more "academic", non-religious options in the area. Schools that are not daycares. Do any of these match this criteria? Or any additional schools that come to mind?
I have 3 children and Johnathan's House Christian School has been the place for me! I only pay $900 per month and the owner is an angel!!! The school is located in Fuquay Varina and has been in operation for almost 20 years! I found the school after watching a coverage story of the owner, Dr Melanie Stewart on WRAL NEWS!!! Her focus is not on money but on quality and is passion driven!!!
My 4 year old has been going to Pitter Patters (also called First Class for Kids) now for 2 years. I just started my 2 year old last month. It is a half day preschool. It is not religious, and it costs about the same as a church preschool. It is a small, family owned business in downtown Cary, across from Urban park. Family members work there and their kids go there. I like it a lot, and so do both girls. They want to go to school every day. They are both advanced in letters and phonics for their ages (but then again- doesn't every mother think that?
