Thanks for the heads up. In my neighborhood we keep getting these young men that come door to door trying to sell us either extermination service or lawn care. I opened the door once and it took me 20 mins to get him away. 2 other times they have tried the same thing but I just refused to open my door. One of them sat there and banged on the door for 10 mins! They are very persistent!

I saw this scam firsthand back in Buffalo. What scared them away was my German Shepherd.

It is a scam. Same with the kids selling magazines. These companies lure college kids in with the hopes of making some money. I think Dateline did a story about it a few years ago.

I was dismayed this week to find out that my kid's middle school had sent home their fundraiser packet this week - magazine sales. Uggh. I'll buy a lot of things from kids who come to the door, but I never ever buy magazine subscriptions.

Generally the kids are legit, the team and the products are not. I called the sheriff after the most recent visit. It is very important to not let them in the house. They always ask for a drink, then a second one shows up and they distract you and split up. Amazing how they ask for a drink at every house in the neighborhood.
The signs of fraud are no permit and a laminated brochure.

I can't believe how many people are answering their doors! I NEVER answer the door unless I recognize someone or am expecting someone and they are in the right attire/vehicle. Everyone needs to be more careful please!
yeah, some of you people seriously lack street smarts.
