NCDOT does mass plantings of flowers (Raleigh: license plates, to eat, farmers)

We were going to the Farmers' Market for fresh strawberries today, and I stopped at the Lake Wheeler Road exit ramp off I-40 to shoot these.

Am I the only one that wonders how NCDOT has money for flowers when
it does not have enough money to fix the pot holes ??

I saw those last weekend when I went to the Farmer's Market to get berries and bushes. And I wished I had my camera w/ me. Thanks for posting these!!

MIKE!!!!!! Be careful doing that. You could get run over by someone looking at the flowers when they are driving by. Where were you able to park your car???

Thanks, but the first one I shot sitting under the hatch of the back of the car, off on the berm of the exit ramp. I felt very safe.

Right beside the Honeysuckle, which I picked from to offer to my wife...

Honeysuckle is awesome. My wife and I came across a bumch on a trail over at the Millbrook Exchange Park in North Raleigh. That stuff smells great.

Mike, what's the going rate for strawberries at the Farmer's Market? I need to make a trip and this might be just the excuse I am looking for.

We made preserves today.

Quarts... $4.00
2/$7.00
4 quart baskets @ $12.00.

8 Quart flats @ $20.00

We bought a flat and a basket and have about 10 Quarts of strawberry preserves on the counter.

And a lot of fresh berries to eat!

The extra fee that people pay to get personalized license plates pays for the wildflowers seen along NC's highways.....
