Yep, too much traffic, hectic lifestyles, cookie cutter developments, poor schools, bad or expensive golf = suburban hell. Weather is nice though.

Default Poor schools?

BigHouse9,
What do you mean by 'poor schools'? Can you be a bit more specific? Thanks.

Guess I am not moving to Dallas then as the traffic around here is so bad. I hate it taking me 45 minutes to travel 10 miles. I am not a big fan of not leaving my house after work since I know I am going to sit in traffic forever.

'Poor schools' means overcrowded test driven schools.

Yeah, I would stick to Raleigh if you don't like traffic. I have lived in 12 different cities across the US and BY FAR Raleigh has the least traffic of any of them. In fact, I was visiting last week and was sitting in my car thinking how I wish my regular commute was a slick as my commute in Raleigh!

Yeah. I know what you mean. I live in Morrisville and you might as well forget about going anywhere between 5:00 and 6:30 pm. The roads aren't sufficient to handle the amount of traffic leaving RTP.

I play 'bad golf' but thats down to me I don't consider it expensive for the quality of the courses, particularly when using the Triangle Golf Calendar deals at River Ridge or Crooked Creek for example, or other internet specials; of course if you want to play Brier Creek or Preston then I agree they are expensive

The comments about traffic have me pmsl . Truly bad traffic is 3 hours to go 20 miles, which is a very real commute in many places (specifically S. FL from my personal experience). I left my home in NW Raleigh (~Lynn Rd at Glenwood) at 6:00 pm last Thursday evening to head to Hillsborough taking 70 up to 85, and there was nothing .

I drive from NW Raleigh to Wake Forest Road, just outside the beltline every morning, and home every afternoon, and it takes me about 15-20 minutes max. During non-rush hour, there is literally no traffic around here! In places like S. FL and DC, there is traffic 24-7 . Yeah, there are cars on the road here, but they are all moving at least at the speed limit. It would take me half an hour to make a 5 mile "commute" in Miami going the opposite direction of the "rush hour traffic", and that was pretty much typical for any time of the day or night .

I have no regrets moving to Raleigh, one of the many great things to me is the lack of traffic! The only regret is not being able to get here sooner .
