I consider any city that small that refuses to consolidate their school system with the county to be snobby.

The city doesn't have a school system. There is a school system that overlays most of the city (save for the parts of the city in Durham and Chatam counties) as well as Carrboro. The school district actually reports to the county, not the city.

And as for consolidation, it's a bit simplistic to suggest that it's a situation for which only one side of the equation is responsible. Neither the county nor the school district has been able to offer a common middle ground on which both sides could agree upon consolidation.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.
No, no, you're right, I do have to travel out of town. I'm willing to do it though!

More seriously, though, there is a real lack of natives around where I live. I can go for days without hearing a southern accent. Of course, I don't get out much either, though, so...

Many of the accents around where I live are Chinese, Indian, Thai, British, Irish, South African . . .
