That is if the time listed is 7:15pm - the *movie* actually starts at 7:15pm and the commercials are before 7:15pm. North Hills actually first opened like that and lasted about 1 week. Now no one does it...as far as I know.

I have never been to a movie theater where the actual movie started at the time listed and the previews were on before that. Not here or anywhere else I've lived.

Agree with you there Miami, No where in this country where I have seen a movie has it actually started when it says it will. I always thought it was a given that there would be 10-15 minutes of previews?

Yeah I have to agree. I guess a lot of people like it that way. I know I do, because most times I am running late anyway and plus I need time to buy food. Even back home in the Caribbean it's the same. The movies don't start on time.

Movie theaters must somehow be owned by the airline industry.

Yeah, I haven't seen that in a long time. If anyone DID do that, there would be people wandering in late because they EXPECTED the 15 mins of previews--probably why North Hills quit doing it, if they used to.

Independent theatres (Colony, Rialto, Galaxy, etc) are more likely to start closer to the "start time" than the multiplexes.

I was just at the Colony last night for a 9:15 movie. At 9:15, the previews started. I didn't time them because I wasn't thinking about it, but I'd say they probably lasted about 10 minutes.

They'd miss out on advertising revenues if they did that. Who would want buy advertising time to an empty room?
