Default Cary, Nc Pet Laws?

I heard that Cary had a two pet limit per household. The town's website doesn't have any further information, and calling Cary Animal Control directly only gets a voice mail.

My question: does this just apply to outdoor animals? I have two indoor/outdoor dogs and 3 indoor cats -- yes, twice daily vacuuming and constant scooping but they're worth it.

Does this mean I can't live in Cary? Or does it just mean I can't say no when I find stray animals?

Thanks,
Michelle

I can't speak for Cary specifically, but most towns have specific limits on the number of pets you can have in your household (it doesn't matter if they're indoor or outdoor pets)--for example, in my town, we can have three cats, three dogs, or a total combination of four. I have two cats and two dogs, and the dogs have to have licenses-- the cats don't, so when I find a stray, I'll keep it here until I find a home for it and no one would ever know or care. I think in most places, as long as you're responsible with your pets and they're not causing a nuisance, you'll be ok. But if you have to license your dogs (which you do in most places), they probably won't let you license more than whatever their limit is.

Thanks Ladies!

Yes, we would have a fenced yard and they don't dig, thank goodness! We're very responsible about our animals -- I don't leave them outside if I'm not home, just in case they begin to bark. I am conscious of barking dogs being annoying.

Thank you again for responding!
