Default Snake

I found a snake on my back patio and convinced myself it was a harmless corn snake. Now someone is telling me that it might be a copperhead. Anyone know? Here's a picture. (It was underneath my son's plastic pool.)

Check out the markings on this brown snake. Could be a match and the description says they can be reddish in color.

I vote for the brown snake! Looks like a closer match than anything else I've seen! Thanks for your response. AJ

I don't think it is poisionus but don't go picking it up. It looks to me like a Eastern Garter Snake, but the coloring is a little off but the marking are the same, doing the job I did in the Army you get used to snakes, and am I to the point now that I hate to kill them but my wife goes crazy. Good luck take a rack and carry it off. Most of your non-poisionous snakes eat your poisionus ones, especially king snakes. But remember even if it is not poisionus it will still bite, but it is not likely to chase you.

I vote Cobra too!

Seriously though, it's hard to tell without seeing the head, but my guess would be a Gartner snake. They're abundant around here and come in all different colors but with a similar pattern to the one in your picture.

Common Garter Snake

And they do bite, they're just non-venomous....but still....
