Taj Mahal, Royal India and Sitar are good in Raleigh. Cary has some fabulous Indian places! Indian Garden, Biryani house, (Suchi used to be wonderful but I've heard not so good things lately), Cool Breeze (chaat house) AND also Udipi (vegetarian).

My favorite is Saffron in Morrisville. On Davis Drive in the Harris Teeter shopping center just before you enter RTP.

I will second Saffron, though it's unclear if you mean in "Raleigh" proper or just in the triangle area. Saffron is convenient to southern RTP and very popular with the lunch crowd.

I don't like Sitar since the ownership change. I prefer Royal India in Raleigh, Udipi in Cary and India Palace 2 in Cary (I think the owner has been gone a while and the food has gone downhill, but supposedly the owner will be back and India Palace will be back to its awesome food!)

I'm a fan of Royal India and so is my friend who is from India! Altho' I haven't had their lunch buffet, their dinners are delicious!..Since we work in Morrisville, we will sometimes go to Saffron or Azitra in Brier Creek. We've never been disappointed.

Royal India the Capital Blvd location.... The lunch buffet is offered on Saturdays, as well as during the week.

I checked out Saffron a few weeks ago and I'd definitely give it a third thumbs-up. It's very popular and well worth the visit.
