Disagree - I'm not in the market to buy but a non-negotiable rule for me is NO HOA. Why do people here find that so hard to believe? Some of us really, really do not like the idea of HOAs. Now the Orlando Magic house mentioned above is a very good example of the benefits of HOAs though, that's for sure!
I made it a point not to use the qualifier "all", so I don't find it hard to believe your preference for non-HOA. What I do believe is that many people just want a house that fits their needs and the HOA part of that is an afterthought. Further, I would divide those who don't want an HOA into subsets of people like you and then other people who simply just don't want to pay monthly dues on top of a mortgage payment.
I wish I knew who just told me in a rep comment that if I'm over 40 I should jump at any chance I have to date. Sigh.
Well, maybe I can make "spinster" fashionable...
Er, not to be off topic or anything...
:-/
Well there is no excuse for that kind of rudeness but on the positive side you got a rep point out of it right?
What I would say on the dating comment is that you just haven't met the right guy who lives with an HOA... if you can't tell, I am one of those people who "will hardly ever" say never
