The colored houses are nice, depending on the style. Here in Brooklyn New York we have loads of Brownstones, that are all attatched. Unfortunetely on of the owners several years ago painted his Brownstone fuscia (pepto bismal pink) and it really does not look nice. I am not for rules and regulations and especially HOA's, but what would make someone paint a gorgeous Brownstone which is in a historic neighborhood pink. I will have to get a picture of it. It is truly is an eyesore. The colored houses pictured here all looked great. I also would imagine that paint would damage a brownstone.

That "pinkstone" just makes me sad. I would knock .5 mil off and have it sandblasted

I personally thought the blue house was fine in the video. Course where I live up here in Upstate NY, we have lots of "painted Ladies"-homes that are painted in their original colors from the period they were built in if they are historical in nature. I hate cookie cutter homes-that what they crank out all over the place. My Grandfather was an architect in Eden and some of his buildings are now on the historical lists. So they have their "original" colors back on them. All I can say is wow-really? You are that concerned about your neighbor having a different house color than yours?

Different colors is fine, but not everyone's taste runs the same when it comes to off the wall house colors. My neighbor's house (in Cary no less!) is really an ugly color. Apparently they painted it without HOA approval and then the HOA let them keep it. So much for HOA control! Anyhow, it's not like I lose sleep over it or anything - but pretty much everyone who comes to visit me remarks on how unattractive it is. Bright colors can be pretty, but this is *not* a pretty color! Luckily I can't see the house from inside mine, otherwise I'd probably be more bothered by it.

Make me know that I'll NEVER live in a HOA-I couldn't stand to be regimented by every little facet of life. Yes, I've seen plenty of homes up and down the East Coast that make me scratch my head-some right in my little historic upstate town too. But to each their own and as long as they keep up the place and not let it be the new town dump, I am fine with it.
