I would also say not to overlook Durham Public Schools. They are hiring as well for elementary, middle and high schools. There are a lot of great teaching jobs to be had, and they aren't all in Wake or Orange Counties.

Does she have her NC license? If so, she should call and make an appointment to see someone in WCPSS HR.
If not, she should go to the NC state website to see how to get certified. I called them too, just to make sure I was on the right track. Then she should call WCPSS HR for an appointment. (I have heard that schools will help you get licensed, but I do noty know how true that is. I like to do things ahead of time)
There are tons of postings on the WCPSS site. There are always openings, even after the school year starts.
I was hired at the spring job fair in April. I had a wonderful experience with the fair & with WCPSS.

schools in APEX
Have any thoughts about the schools in APEX? Are they as good as Chapel Hill? WHat kind of community is APEX. I'll be down to NC in Late July to check it out. Just doing some research as I am planning to relocate with my wife and son who is 5.

I haven't checked this thread in quite some time, but there are a ton more comments now! Thanks so much for all your comments and help. On the bad side, it's been a month and still no call! Very discouraging. I just hope something happens in august or we may be moving. Do the non year round school hire in august or is that too late?

Johnston County schools(non-year round) hired last year up until the day before schools started..so there is still hope. Actually..I think they do more hiring between July 15-August 15 than they do in early summer due to registration/principals returning from vacations, job-fairs in June etc.
I was hired last year around July 20th...about 3 weeks after the job fair/interviews I had.
