Default HVAC upgrade

We paid for an HVAC upgrade in unfinished attic. Builder installed all duct work and vents and now says it was a mistake and is taking it all out. Exactly what is included in an HVAC upgrade? Thanks!

No idea what this term means. Apparently a builder option to improve the system.

Be sure you get a good home inspection to see what happened.

Well I am thinking you mean you wanted the attic pre-finished for HVAC. In which case they will run a freon/drain line from the crawl to the attic. That's typically all you would need to consider it "pre-finished".

An "HVAC upgrade" can be defined in nearly unlimited ways.
Your contract, or an addendum, will tell you exactly what you paid for.

UNC81 is on a distinguished road
Usually with builders, it just refers to the condenser line from what I've seen. Although I don't know why they'd tear out all of the work they'd done after the fact. I'd fight to have them leave it in, maybe at a highly discounted price.

A builder is not allowed to run vents and duct work to unfinished spaces. I often have this request from customers who are building on an unfinished basement, or who intend to eventually finish their third floor walk up. Code does not allow this thats why your builder had to remove all that.

I like that answer.

Another question, dinalkulp; did your builder install equipment that is sized properly so it can handle the space when you complete it?

Seems to be the exact reason. I would hope that they installed equipment that is sized properly. Since we have no idea what that would look like, we will find out for sure when an inspector checks it out I guess. Thanks!
