Hi All,

I plan on relocating to Raleigh from Pittsburgh in the next 6-9 months. Married with 3 kids Male 14& 4 Female 9. All love to play sports. Need something close to a hospital currently a MA looking to return for RN. Any good schools in the are for RN. hospital base if available. Also a good school for my children. Husband is a chef? Any information would be great.

I believe you can get an RN from the Community Colleges here--either Wake Tech or Durham Tech. We have fine hospitals here, especially UNC (Chapel Hill) and Duke (Durham). Raleigh has hospitals, of which Rex has the best reputation, but the above two are more "stellar".

Wake Tech and Johnston Community college both have RN programs. Wake Tech uses the main campus of Wake Med a lot. You will find openings at most area hospitals.

Living close to Wake Med is not too bad if you move to Garner or even Southeastern Wake County. There are lots of new subdivisions going into the area and it is cheaper than elsewhere. You want to be out past Barwell Rd if you are moving into Southeast so that you aren't faced with crime, etc.

Cary has lots of nice opportunities and higher prices. I was not as excited about the schools in Garner as elsewhere in Raleigh. My children were in the magnet program so it didn't matter so much where we lived.
