Default Senior housing in Raleigh?

It looks like we are going to be moving to Raleigh this summer. I'm trying to convince my parents to come with us. We're looking for a senior community where they can either buy a condo or rent an apartment. There don't seem to be many options other than Independent/Assisted Living buildings. That is not what they want for the moment (they don't need meals cooked for them and don't want to pay the premium that these places charge.) They also want a decent-sized apartment. They are a little cramped in the 2BR condo they're in now and would like a 3 BR place. We're looking in the North Raleigh area and would like them to be close to us.

Does anyone have any suggestions? It doesn't necessarily need to be a senior community, but they like the idea of planned activities as a way to meet people.

I am looking for the same. My mother is 80 and my sister who is 52 lives her. They are NY's in Phx right now. My mother has no friends here. She lost my dad 2 years ago. It would be nice for her to go somewhere where she can met some nice people. It's hard for her to make friends. She's not the friendliest person, but since it sounds like alot of NY's are in NC she may be able to relate to people better there. Plus if I move she'll be crushed. Her best friend is in SC so I could drive here there once in a while too. Anybody any ideas. Maybe a mobile home community with activities.

Default senior housing in Raleigh

this is amazing...so many of us in the same situation! Heritage Pines in Cary is amazing, but my parents want to rent. Heritage PInes has an active community with an age average of 65! Great houses; small community. I however need a place where my parents can rent a house and have an active community center. They are 80's and don't feel ready for the retirement housing NC seems to provide. Anyone with any ideas please let me know...Thank you so much.

Del Webb Corp is building in Cary now. They wouldn't give me a $ estimate unless I attended a seminar. Sounds quite pricey. But, if you can afford it it sounds like a classy operation.

I've been checking into Del Webb for clients of mine. Pricing starts at around $190,000 but seems to be well worth it! If I were 55 or older...I may have to consider moving there! Send me an email to those of you interested and I'll try to answer your questions. They really do not want buyers without their buyer's representatives, at this time. They are overwhelmed with buyers and agents. And for those that want to spend less than that...there are other homes available for those folks too. Vicki
