Some time ago, I submitted a post asking if anyone knew of a place that my club could hold its annual late summer picnic. See here:

http://www.city-data.com/forum/ralei...ge-picnic.html

VickiR suggested that I try a subdivision clubhouse. So, I'll ask my question again, but this time specify that we are looking to rent out a clubhouse.

Our requirements are that the place must:

let us have alcohol (beer, mostly)
let us cook out (brats, etc.)
have running water
be able to handle around 100 people
have room for fun and games (e.g. sack races)
have some picnic tables
have access that can be controlled (we don't want freeloaders)
be local to Raleigh/Cary
have a rent of $250 or less
have some form of shelter in case it rains

Can anyone help? We were able to talk our previous host into another picnic this year, but I really doubt that we will be able to go back next year.

I would try some of the Cary or Raleigh Parks. I know Bond Park in Cary has shelters, bathrooms, etc. Most subdivisions will only rent to homeowners. Maybe someone in your group of 100 lives in a neighborhood with a clubhouse.

Please see my previous thread as we already discussed Raleigh parks and their alcohol policies. The problem with using a city facility is that they either prohibit alcohol, or they make you sign your life away in order to bring it. Then, you can bet that the city park admin calls the chief of police and says "Hey, get a few cars out to XYZ Park tonight, there's a group renting the shelter and they're serving alcohol."

You may try the community building at Holding Park in Wake Forest. https://www.wakeforestnc.gov/residen...s_holding.aspx

I would try one of the local swim clubs. I think Northbrook (corner of Northbrook and North Hills Dr.) rents out their clubhouse.

Default clubhouse rental

Call Mill Creek subdivision and golf course in Mebane. I know they rent out the clubhouse and it is very nice. Should fulfill your requirements.

Mebane? That's like 60 miles from my house. Sorry but that doesn't fulfill requirement #8 -- be local to Raleigh/Cary

Try a few apartment complexes. Most limit rental to tenants but might be persuaded.

Cary is 42 miles from Mebane. Guess it's not worth the drive?

Oxxford Hunt has a clubhouse that they rent out to residents. I don't know if they will rent it to nonresidents. Oxxford Hunt is managed by a company in the same shopping plaza as Jumping Beans off of Nottingham/Buck Jones in Cary. I think it's Omega Management.
