Our household income for this year is 4 million dollars annually and we live in Durham.

We both got big raises - last year we made 50,000 and wanted to live in Cary but couldn't afford it because the COL was too high there.

When I lived back in Virginia, I used to go on the Loudoun County farm tours every once in a while. One fine fall day I got to meet some alpacas -

They are beautiful animals and very gentle. The farm had a gift shop where they sold alpaca wool and sweaters. Good stuff!

In Asia, llama droppings are used as heating fuel. Might be a lot cheaper than oil heat.

Will I get reprimanded for posting off-topic if my post is not about llamas?

I don't see how income is relative to whether you can afford to live in X (Boylan Heights, Chapel Hill, etc). Some people move here with big fat equity checks and are able to buy a house outright, thus their $50K salary in Chapel Hill goes a lot further since they are mortgage free. Some people are trust fund babies and can buy homes and not work. Some people scored on the stock market and got out at the right time and thus can afford to work at that non-profit which pays next to nothing and still live in a nice place.

How much you make is not always the only factor if you can afford a certain place. Thus I don't really see the point in the poll.

But I would love to see a poll on who thinks NRG photo is llama and who thinks it's an alpaca.
