Housing
I am in need of a two BR house or apartment that will accept section 8. My only problem is that I broke a lease about 4 years ago and just left when I was 18 now I can't find anywhere that I think will accept me. HELP what should I do and where could I possibly go to find something within the next 5 days?

Check out Wakefield Hills apartments. Brand new! Raleigh just added bus service to Wakefield just for that apt. complex. You must show proof of gov't assistance to even fill out an application to live there. Don't ask me how that's not discrimination.

What area are you looking to move to?
You say you don't think anyone will accept you? How will you know unless you apply? (I'm assuming you haven't). I used to tell my dh this all the time about job applications. He would always say, they won't hire me because xyz and I'd say, "how do you know unless you try?" Yes, I had to play cheerleeder wife all the time.

If you are looking for Section 8 housing and you qualify, wouldn't the section 8 folks have lists of apts. that would be available?

On another thought. You can go to apartmentguide and do an initial search for an apartment in your area. Then you'll see a little box you can check for affordable housing. This will allow you to narrow your search down. I'd try calling these places to see FIRSTLY about accepting your vouchers, let alone your personal credit issues. I've found that in the Durham area, there are slim pickings on complexes that accept section 8. Maybe others may know personally of some of the smaller buildings that do there.

Few good buildings accept section 8 since it greatly reduces the landlord's ability to select their residents.

Saturnfan is absolutely right. The complexes I know that do usually have major quality of life issues.

I would suggest craigslist.
It took me MONTHS to rent out the bedroom in my house. There are sooooo many people just looking to get someone in to rent, but not alot of people who are looking for a room so to speak. I would check through there. Not alot of people require credit checks, but some may require a deposit.
Just for your sake, if you do happen to move out, give them plenty of notice. You can use them as a reference for future purposes.
