Default Smithfield or Siler City info

Hi,
Does anyone have any information on either of these 2 towns ? Smithfield in Johnston County and Siler City in Chatham County. Basically looking for a nice place to retire to. Things such as whether they are somewhat rural, distance to good healthcare, overall cleanliness, etc. Thank you for any help you may care to share.

Bill

Smithfield---Very small-town feel. Racially mixed. Some "Seedy" sections and some very country sections. Good proximity to 95/Outlet shopping. A hike to Raleigh(40 minutes).
I would not really call it a retirement community. Moreso blue-collar.

I know nothing about Siler City.

Thanks newmom, I don't know anything about either and I know some places aren't really well suited for retirement. That helps alot, thanks again.

I can say with 99% certainty that you will NOT want to live in Siler City. It is in the middle of nowhere and is very run down and has excessive crime issues for such a small town.

David O is on a distinguished road
Smithfield is quite rural, we live in Clayton (next town over) closer to Raleigh my inlaws retired here some years ago. New hospital being built, tobacco fields on one side of the road and new housing developments on the other.
I think it depends on what you like to do
