Hi all,

First of all, I'm not wanting to spend a small fortune (say a little prayer - lord knows I want these counters and I hope it's not even that much - I've NO idea). If you are allowed to refer on this post, can you please send me or place on here some great and reasonable places that install granite counters. Nothing fancy in regards to edging, just looking for someone to do a nice job with good quality granite. I know Home Depot does this with whom I do plan to approach once I obtain measurements for rough estimate but we're fairly new to the area and well, relying on all of you for assistance. Yes, I'd like tiling above on the wall under cabinets. Thanks!

I am just starting this task too. I have received an estimate so far from Atlantic Countertops & Accessories, Inc., Raleigh, NC, Home
It seemed quite reasonable but so far nothing to compare it to...thanks for the post!

Absolute Stone in Raleigh. Great prices and did a good job for me. They will also sell you and install leftovers (i.e. bathroom countertops).

We used Atlantic last fall for granite in our kitchen and were quite pleased. Their prices were a good bit lower that everyone else we talked to and their installers were very nice and professional.

Ahh, that explains why some homes we saw had the same bathroom/kitchen granite!! Cheaper.

I just spent five minutes searching for this thread after a friend emailed me this article. We re-did our kitchen in 2001 and installed granite. Sure hope it was the right kind....

Well, I'll certainly look into it. Guess that radon testing we're having done would have come in handy post-granite install. Perhaps I'll look into other options...like lower radon emitting granite instead? *shrug*

First it was masonite, then poly pipes, then stucco, then mold and now granite countertops!

Just when you found out it was safe to eat tomotoes, you find out that maybe you shouldn't cut them near your granite countertops!!!

What is next???

Vicki
