***This is a re-post; only one view after the original one has been there > 1hr***
Greetings!
Just moved to Raleigh 2 weeks ago. Very good place. Anyway, my car is broken and I want to find a auto shop that does good and honest job. I know quite a few bad stories (mine and others) about being ripped of. I'm really scared to death to go out using my $$$ trying out who's good and who's not. Please feed me some info.
I live near the Centennial Campus of NCSU and would like it to be closer. Of course, a few extra miles are OK if that helps.

Thanks and I hope to know all you.

Don't know what you have, but I found the guys at West German Garage to be straightforward with me. Google Map to 5611 Hillsborough Street
They always treated me right on my 20 year old Mercedes.
RJ&G is at 6215 Hillsborough St and is the only place that touches my cars down here. I drive an '02 F-150 Harley Davidson, and a '98 Stage 2 Jack Roush Mustang (hence my screen name). They're honest, and are a good value as well.
Thanks, MikeJaquish and 98stage2. Your comments are very encouraging.
My car is just dead: no crank, no (the expected) clicking noise. Just called AAA and the guys can't jump-started it. One guy said it looks the starter is broken. It's a 95' Nissan Maxima, about 10k with it (yes, relatively low milage, I don't drive much as having been a student for too long).
I've had some small repairs, oil changes, inspections at the service station at the corner of Avent Ferry and Western Blvd. They always seemed straight-up to me. Never had a problem.
Sounds like it could be the starter. Do your lights or radio workor anything like that work?
If it is the starter you should be able to find that pretty cheap at a junkyard. If you call RJ&G, ask them to quote you both prices: install a part I bring, and 2) find one for me and install it.
Emitchell, several folks also told me the one (Phillip 66?) at the corner of Avent Ferry and Western is good to do oil change, annual check and stuff. You reply confirms what I heard from others and I will check if they'll do starter or even more complex job. Thank you!
Sorry, Chicky, it's ~100k, my bad.
Good night, eveyone. Thanks for veiwing my post. All those replies are very helpful and I'll be back to this forum frequently.
