Just moved here, and where I used to live, we didn't have an IMAX, so I'm going to be heading there soon to finally get to see what all the fuss is about.

So, what should expect there?

Is it usually packed or not?

I've only been there once, to see U2-3D. (Coolest show ever!) You can order tickets online, so you're guaranteed a seat. As far as being packed, it really depends on what you're going to see. The Dark Knight has a lot of sold-out shows right now. Here's a link to the website (The theater is located in the Marbles Kids museum):

Marbles Kids Museum - Visit

It's a very cool experience, IMO. Enjoy!

My only complaint about IMAX is that you can't have food or beverages in the theater. It's just not a movie to me without popcorn and twizzlers.

Just saw the Dark Knight last night on IMAX... it was great. And they allowed popcorn, candy, and drinks in there. They do sell concessions but not a wide variety like a normal movie theater.

Is that a new change? I haven't been since it was owned by Exploris (saw Harry Potter there).

The do sell popcorn and drinks (in 20 oz bottles) and a few candy items. It has been that way since at least the summer of 2007 when Spider-Man 3 came out, can not remember before that. I went recently to see Dark Knight (opening day) and the underwater 3-d one.

For big releases like Dark Knight it does get packed, especially on the weekends. For the more "educational" movies during the day usually there are a lot less people unless there is a field trip.
