Default Smithfield Schools

I am planning a trip to check out homes in the Clayton area. From the pictures on the net, I like the houses in the Knolls at the Neuse subdivision as well as others. Does anyone have any children that attend the Smithfield middle and high schools?

Any info will be greatly appreciated

I would check out greatschools.net and type in your schools. It will give you test scores and parent reviews. Me....personally....we are having a house built in Four Oaks area, so we don't have to go to Smithfield schools, but are still in Johnston Co. We will get to go to West Johnston High and Four Oaks middle school. We are moving from Alabama and ANY school is better then Alabama....That was not nice, huh??

if you go to ncreportcards.org you can put in johnston county and then pick the schools you are interested......If I remember correctly I think those schools rated low compared to the state levels......we had liked alot of those homes and what they offered also, but decided against it due to the schooling.

I think a few people here have or are actually building there now but mentioned either pvt schools or their kids were still very young and decided that wasnt an important factor as of now and were going to wait and see if there were changes in the system between now and the time their kids would be going......

the homes do look nice and have nice size properties...though....

but I would definately check out those two school sites....they will give you some kind of an idea

Thx for the info. I had previously checked out greatschools and wanted to confirm what was said on the site. I will look elsewhere for houses.

I would check with Johnston county on the schools listed for that area. River Dell is where my kids go and we LOVE LOVE LOVE this school (mostly due to a fabulous principal) but there's a new elementary going in the area that cover Glen Laurel...Powatan or something like that. Knolls @ the Neuse might go there. Plus, there's a new Middle school in Archer Lodge (opened last fall) so that area might now be redistricted to that school. AND they are planning a new high school in the Archer Lodge area to open around 2010, I think.

All info that might play into your decisions on where to buy. Maybe the county website will have more info or you can call the school district; Johnston County - North Carolina

Good luck!
Lauren

I am a teacher in Johnston County...also with a child in the schools. If you PM me I can give you my opinion/feedback I've heard about which schools have the best reputations.
