We are looking for a casual seafood restaurant that has fresh good seafood. We live in North Raleigh but give us some ideas and we dont mind driving a little ways. Thanks!

I have several friends that rave about Squid, in Chapel Hill. Haven't actually gone there myself but plan to in the very near future.

Shrimp Boats, MayFlower XVI, Rockfish Seafood Grill; South West Durham, oh yeah...and can't forget fishmonger's downtown Durham Brightleaf Square area.

What about that seafood restaurant (off of Durant Rd.-Falls River Shopping center area). They used to sell fresh seafood and now it is a seafood restaurant. Can't remember name of it though. I was going to check it out, but haven't done so yet.

I found Kemps to be awful. I'm not sure casual and good can be found in Raleigh(It can in FL). Squids wasn't bad. The best I've had here is 42nd street.

In North Raleigh, for a good casual seafood restaurant I suggest North Seafood Bistro located on Durant Road. Great little place that is locally owned.
In Downtown Raleigh I second the 42 Street Oyster Bar Recommendation.
If chains are ok, we have had a good experience with the Bone Fish Grill in North Hills off of Six Forks.

How is Capt. Stanley's, a "hole in the wall" type of seafood place in downtown Raleigh?
I was there once and found it good. Would like to go again, just haven't had a chance to get there.

Capt. Stanley's is the best example of an NC seafood restaurant...it's about the only one I recommend to people. If you want shi shi poo poo, don't go there though.

Another good choice: Blu, off Ninth Street in Durham.
