I am interested in living near an area with some Muslim presence (a mosque or Islamic center). I have found that the triangle area has 5 mosques. I am posting their addresses below and want your opinions about which area is safer, closer to downtown, better in public trans., and cleaner. please have a look at them below:

Islamic Center of Raleigh
808 Atwater Street, Raleigh, NC 27607-5200

Ar-Razzaq Islamic Center
1009 West Chapel Hill Street, Durham, NC 27701-3025

Masjid Ibad ar-Rahman
3034 Fayetteville Street, Durham, NC 27707-4136

Islamic Association of Cary
1076 West Chatham Street, Cary, NC 27511-
6201

Thank you.

Well it seems to me that The Raleigh one would be closest to downtown,if you are talking about downtown Raleigh.

The first one you mention is located in the Method neighborhood. It is on the west side of the NCSU campus.
Method started a very long time ago as a "village" for freed slaves and has been historically a small African-American community, but in the past couple of decades has seen a big increase in the Muslim community as well, thanks to the Mosque there, and I *think* a community center.
It mostly has older houses, however alot of newer houses have been built on the neighborhood's fringes in the past 5 years.
As to your other needs-- it's pretty close to downtown...and has access to a couple of bus routes.

I knew that somebody will ask me about this. I am interested in many states/cities (or you can say confused) and would like to know where in each one of them should I conduct a more extensive research. every city is very wide and diverse in everything and concentrating on one or two areas (neighborhoods) in each city would make my search/choice easier.

I know my questions are HEADACHE and not specific, but I have no other way to get the info i need.

They could be looking at all those cities for a possible move. If finding a good neighborhood near an Islamic center is a main requisite for a move...these forums are a very good way to do a preliminary weeding out of cities that won’t fit the bill.

It doesn’t have to be any sort of sinister reason.
