I am a permanent substitute teacher with initial certification in elementary education grades 1-6. I would like to relocated to Raleigh, NC. I know that N.C. has reciprosity with New York, but am not sure where to begin the process. I live on Long Island. Can anyone help?
I'd start by looking at the Wake County Schools website (wcpss.net). There are links to jobs & schools. Since there are year round & traditional elementary schools they are practically always hiring.
Should also be a link to the NC Dept. of Public Instruction that will talk about certification. (if not just google NCDPI)
Also, search this forum for previous threads on teaching jobs - you will find a lot of info on the market for teachers here. (Though substitute may be different)
Hello fellow NY relocatee!!! Definitely look at the wcps site here is the add Wake County Public School System that will take you there click on the jobs section and that will give you everything you need!!! Please remember that you need to have a application on file BEFORE you apply for any jobs on that site, if you don't have one you are wasting your time.
You might also want to try some of the prestigious private school especially if you want to move to Raleigh it self there are quite a few I think that if you goto the Wake county schools site it has a link for private schools, I know the "rules" for teacher certification are different for private schools.
Hope this helps you! :-)
