Default Vacant lot at Retail Drive/ Hwy 98 in Wake Forest.. status?

Does anybody know anything regarding the status of the vacant property at the corner of Retail Drive and Hwy 98 in Wake Forest? Across the street from Walgreens? Who owns the land and will it ever be developed? As of yesterday, the moving van truck was still parked on the property. There are overgrown weeks everywhere. It just looks *bad.* I know the steak house pulled out - but I really thought there would be additional interest in this property. I called the Town of Wake Forest, and the person I spoke to was clueless (after numerous phone transfers). Thanks.

You can figure out the owner on WakeGov.com . This is the property across the street (if you mean across Retail Drive) from Walgreens: Account Summary - 0249804

It is owned by Wake Forest Granite.

Today I noticed a lawn crew cleaning up the area... FINALLY.

I made numerous calls to the town of Wake Forest this summer regarding this property. Finally, after several calls and weeks.. somebody called and said he would contact the owners about cleaning up the property (this was about 6 weeks ago).

At the time, I was also very upset/concerned about the moving van parked on the vacant lot. While the representative from the T. of WF claimed there was nothing he could do , the van did disappear about a week later (now its parked in the parking lot at Wakefield 9th grade center). The Town of WF representative said the owners can allow ANYTHING to be parked on their land - this matter was out of his control.........

On another note, the TofWF representative said the town hasn't been approached regarding development on this land, so for the immediate future it will remain undeveloped.

If the area becomes overgrown again, I would suggest a call to the Town of Wake Forest and be PERSISTENT.
