I have some old chains, charms, etc... Has anyone had any experience selling their old pieces locally in Raleigh?

Most jewelers can only pay scrap price since they don't have pawnshop licenses.

Treasure Isle jewelers is ethical. Jolly's also buys scrap gold.

We used Gold Mine (Strickland/Falls of Neuse) about a month ago and Tom, the owner, was great.

Where I live in Florida you can go to pawnshops where they will give you the market rate for your scrap gold which is pretty high right now. This website explains how they evaluate and pay you for your gold...

As a licensed pawnbroker, this store has the right to sell your items for more as jewelry if they feel it is marketable as such.
