Default Renting...

Hey everyone. We wanted to rent for 6 mos or so while we get to know the area. But we want to rent as cheaply as possible. I have seen apartments and houses for as little as $800, 3bd 2 br. Does it get much cheaper than that? What about trailer parks? Any slightly less than desirable neighborhoods? We really don't want to poor a lot of money into a rental that we are going to live in less than a year.

Thanks

Well...800 for 3 bed 2 bath is pretty darned good....better than most stuff I've found...about as good as you can get without living in a housing project. Trailer Park? Most cities here don't allow them....you'd be WAY WAY WAY out in the country most likely. And even then, I doubt it'd be much better than 800.

You won't likely do a lot better than $800, but try to offer to rent through the holidays, i.e., don't expect a landlord to be tooooo excited with a short lease that ends in November or December. Difficult time to get tenants.

I did a search on the mLS, and there are eight 3/2 rentals in Wake County listed up to and including $800/month.
You are probably looking for a private deal. Take a look at Craigslist. Take a look at the newspaper. Try an agency that specializes in rentals. But I think that the management fee expense will put you over $800. You might try Driftwood Manor or Martinique, managed by VG Murray. They are older condo complexes. Some 3 BR condos at Driftwood Manor, and I don't think there is a rental there as much as $800. Great location, too, for someone to learn the Raleigh-Cary area.
