posted on craigslist,
Charming 2 bedroom bungalow inside the beltline. Hardwood floors throughout and updated bath. Nice custom deck overlooks a fenced backyard.
This home is family owned and very well maintained. We are looking for quality tenants who are responsible and appreciate a well taken care of home and will treat it as if it were their own.

There was a similar post like this back on 5/19/08. That person also received a similar response (see link below for that post). Unfortunately it seems like it may be the same thing! Let us know what you find out!
I did some more research on this and the this house does appear to be for rent....however the ad that you saw and the response you received was definitely from a scam artist. Apparently these people find a legitimate rental and then post it on Craigslist at a lower rental rate (in this case $700 vs the $880 the real ad has). They usually copy the exact listing verbiage and copy the same pictures. They also got the contact name from the other legitimate ad and probably created a fictitious email with this persons name. The actual owner is a realtor here in Raleigh not some Pastor in Africa.

Definitely a scan. Renters beware. Not dissimilar to those random emails asking you to cash an inheritance check, keep 1/3 of the money and mail the rest to Nigeria. Or car sales on EBay....it's everywhere. The old adage - if it sounds to good to be true, it usually is.
thanks for the advice. Thats what i thought. I was waiting for the next email to say send a money order to be sure. As someone relocating i wanted to be sure and not come off as an overly suspicious new yorker. The fact he said he was a pastor was a nice touch.
I once got a Nigerian scam email from a fool claiming to be named Dr. James Kaka (LOL).
I had to tell him what his last name meant here. He still wanted to know if I wanted to do the deal. ROFL!
