I'm from Florida and never experience in driving on ice/snow until last week here in NC. I had to drive to work and boy, I was in nervous wreck while driving on ice/snow during that day. I went on 15 mph which is why I left one hour early for work. I've witnessed accidents on the way to work and I know what caused it: driving too fast.

By driving 10-15 mph, I was fine. Be sure your tire is good for "4 seasons" and in good shape.

Well, who knows exactly unless it was witnessed. However, it's safe to safe that speed was the issue. On the other hand, driving TOO slow to the point of paranoia can be equally as dangerous.

During one of the bigger downpours shortly after we arrived here, I saw drivers practically stopped in the middle of the 4 lane highway when hardly any traffic was around. That, in of itself, can be the most dangerous of situations. I guess what I am saying is that if you feel highly uncomfortable driving during harsh weather conditions... take a day off. Stay home.

Because as much as driving fast (during harsh weather conditions) becomes a liability, so does driving too slow especially if the driver lacks confidence during times like these.

Thank you for pointing this out!! You had to be careful the other week...but driving at 15 miles an hour is a recipe for getting rear ended....especially if on a hilly route.

They are absolutely no problem...................as long as you don't drive on them.
